Newsletter #2, Introduction

Dear Readers,

The team of the Watigueleya Kèlê action-research programme is pleased to present the latest activities carried out to understand and enhance local resilience strategies in the face of socio-ecological stresses and disasters in Mali, Senegal and Guinea. We would like to dedicate this newsletter to Lanciné Camara, a village member of the programme who unfortunately passed away recently.

A central activity of the project has taken place since the last newsletter: the second Watigueleya Kèlê village workshop. From 24 to 28 May 2021, the programme brought together in Bandafassi (Senegal) all the village relays from the ten participating villages, in order to further equip them to disseminate the local knowledge gathered in the reports. This workshop was an opportunity for very fruitful exchanges, particularly around advocacy training that should enable participants to make their voices and demands heard more effectively in the coming months. We will tell you more in the next newsletters!
In the July 2021 newsletter, you will find, in addition to the summary of the workshop, a video presenting some of the highlights of the week, as well as the first results of the socio-economic survey conducted in February-March 2021 in the three countries.
Finally, you can discover new reports made by the villagers of the three countries, which deal with subjects as diverse as ploughing, livestock farming, construction, and access to water in the face of environmental change.

We hope you enjoy reading !
